The Egyptian Aphrodite

From Luxor, you’ll head North to the Temple of Dendera “from the Greco-Roman era”, among the most extensive and best preserved temples in Egypt. The temple was dedicated to Hathor -the Goddess of maternity, love and music, “identified by the Greeks as Aphrodite”.

Dendera Temple is highly unique with inscriptions, still visible colors, a sacred crypt, an accessible roof, and an ancient zodiac now displayed at the Louvre in Paris.

Notably, Cleopatra VII and her son Caesarion, fathered by Julius Caesar, are represented here.
