1st stop – The Unfinished Obelisk:
The Unfinished Obelisk can be found in Aswan’s granite quarries, the source of much of the red granite used for the colossi and ancient temples. The Unfinished Obelisk still lies where it was carved, after a crack was found. Your qualified Egyptologist guide will explain how the 1200 ton obelisk was carved, and why it was abandoned when the crack was discovered.

2nd stop – The High Dam:
We start your day tour in Aswan, collecting you from your hotel or cruise ship and driving to the High Dam of Aswan, an engineering miracle when built in the 1960s. From the top of the High Dam, gaze across Lake Nasser to the Temple of Kalabsha in the south and the huge power station to the north.

3rd stop – The Temple of Philae:
This last of the three famous Aswan sites on your tour, is generally regarded as the best. The Philae Temple was carefully relocated to its current site (around 500 meters from the original) during the High Dam’s construction. Then, a short motorboat ride delivers you to the island, where you’ll enjoy a guided walking tour through the temple before enjoying time to explore on your own. Dedicated to the goddess Isis, Philae Temple is now on an island in the river, beautifully landscaped to mirror its original site.

Finally, your tour-guide will escort you back to your hotel or cruise ship.
